- Kinoko is the steward of the mushroom patch in the magical forest. She is a fungimancer - she has magical control over fungi. She can grow fungi, control them, and bestow them with sentience. She lives in a hollowed-out tree in a clearing, among small mushroom-people that she created.
- She is extremely introverted; time alone with herself results in joy. She is guarded and standoffish toward anyone other than her little mushroom babies. Filled with a deep desire for love and camaraderie, but terrified and uncomfortable interacting with other people; she keeps making more little guys who obey her every whim to fill the void. Some might say there is a power imbalance in that type of friendship, but she doesn't really think about it.
- She is able to use the world's mycelium as a biological network for sending signals and low-level processing tasks. She has contaminated her own brain with fungi to be better able to "plug in" to this network, and is now able to monitor events from far away if one of her mushroom buddies is on the other end of the line. Effects to her psychological health are to be determined.
- She partakes of psychoactive mushrooms less often than one would expect. She's developed a strange empathy for all fungi and feels uncomfortable harming or ingesting them for this reason.
- Inexplicably, she has eye-searing cyan hair and yellow eyes, but otherwise appears as a regular white girl. Her fashion sense is that of an anime-addicted preteen from the early 2000s, but she is generally too lazy to do anything about it and ends up wearing loose smocks around the woods.
